ABOUT KMT SPA

KMT SPA began with a skin care problem, that developed and spun out of control after the birth of my son, Indigo. I learned about eczema through him being stricken with it, and dealing with it myself for the first time. Doctors recommended the leading brands of gentle baby soap for both of us, but soon they too acted like the others, leaving us itchy and scaly. Not even their medicines worked. Black soaps, shea butters, these were all too strong and made my flare-ups worse. Lotions didn't work since they're mostly water-based.  I had to completely walk away from the whole mainstream and exclusive markets, and create my own products. By that time, both of us had hard, dry scaly patches of skin to get rid of, and I was determined. Both the backs of Indigo's hands were covered with dark patches of scaly, itchy skin.  My knee and the side of one of my feet, were covered with thick, hard, scaly skin that felt so good when I scratched it, but bled when I did, and I was in a lot of pain.

The first bar I made was the Mango bar. I added a little orange essential oil to it, because the smell of mangoes is so faint, especially when it's blended with the glycerin. Indigo loved it. He was about 6 at the time. He loved the smell of the soap so much, that he had take a small bite. I asked him about it, and he said that it smelled so good, he thought it might taste good too. I asked him how it tasted, and he said, "It wasn't that bad!" I remember him also remarking that he wasn't itchy. I too had success with the bar, it soothed me. I created a cucumber bar, since it was summertime, and that was another awesome bar. This one had no fragrance, it was just soothing and gave my skin a cooling sensation. Bathing with this bar made me realize for the first time, what it feels like when your skin is drinking! I felt so refreshed! It was through the creation of that second bar, that I realized how important it is, what you use on your skin, which is the largest organ of the body! What goes on, goes in.

Indigo is not the only person who has tasted my soap, and said "It wasn't that bad!" while others have threatened to taste it, or said that they would, "Even if it's just a little piece."

For the past 14 years, I have been creating my own soap. The patches on my skin are barely an issue anymore. I created an ointment from sunflowers and weeds, and I apply that daily to what's left of my eczema. I wear body oils that I have created, and they come in many essential oil fragrances. I also learned how to make lotion. I don't walk around itchy anymore.

Just recently, I created a deodorant that doubles as a body butter! (Ask About It!)

Everyday is a new adventure for KMT SPA, as I learn more about skin, the present state of food, and what what we can do to nourish ourselves from the earth's resources!
